A pioneering artist re-purposing raw materials and throwing a light on Scandinavian Street Culture
Morten Jensen Vågen is a visual artist living and working in Oslo, Norway. Morten holds a MFA from the Academy of fine arts in Oslo, and have shown his works at the National Gallery in Prague, Gallery BOA in Oslo and Kunstnernes hus in Oslo. He works primarily with video and sculptures, and is thematically interested in urban environments, surveillance and prepper culture, and draws upon fringe communities who distrust governments and mainstream society. Many of Morten’s works questions societal norms or attempts to “beat the system”.
“Morten encapsulates DIY Street Culture; he’ll make a chair out of heras fencing or a knife out of scrap metal. His art work comments on the excesses of contemporary lifestyles. It's not typical Street Culture, a truly Scandinavian approach foregrounding the environment and eco-friendly statements.”
