Marlou Fernanda
ROTTERDAM,
THE NETHERLANDS
A self-taught Dutch artist who creates a character that inhabits her painted self-portraits and transcends the canvas
Marlou Fernanda is a self-taught visual artist, with a particular focus on painting. She also works as a performance artist and as a director. Marlou has created live performances for the Foam Museum Amsterdam and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, given workshops at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, independently set up a solo exhibition in the heart of Amsterdam and worked as a creative director for international artists including Sevdaliza.
“Marlou is extra terrestrial! She creates fascinating visual worlds. She paints an alter ego, and is the somehow is the character that she paints. Her work is a huge inspiration to me and many other artists. Focused on womanhood, her paintings come to life in her live performances. For me she is a huge inspiration, one of the dopest artists out there.”
